Can an employer insist that staff can only take a half-hour break for a 7.5hr shift

So if you/they knew overtime would take place they had to give you a break mid way through the shift. They couldn't make you work 6hrs 1 min or more and give no break or tell you to take it there if you were to finish say one hour later.

There were alot of youngster there and people from overseas who don't know their rights with regards to breaks and many other things too. I did make them aware and the consultant from the agency didn't like it and asked me to leave.

im so lucky i have a good boss i work in a kitchen 8.5 hr shift payed 0.5 hr break and free lunch also as much free tea ,coffee and squash as you want .

Mine is fairly odd

If you work 6am til 2pm you get a 30 minute paid break.

If you work 8am until 5pm you get 30 minute paid breakfast, and hour lunch and 15 minute break in the afternoon.

If you work 2pm until 10pm you get 30 minuted unpaid supper break.
