Totally confused with ebay selling fees -please help

I've sold a grand total of one item in recent memory (a car), being mainly a buyer on the site.
A while ago, I started getting emails from ebay saying they couldn't access my bank account to take the seller's fees as an automated payment - and could I please pay via Paypal.
I duly paid the requested amount (c.£20).
A couple of weeks later, I find yet another email from them saying I owe 'new fees'. On consulting my seller's account page, I see that a further £5 has now been added as 'non-VATable' fees and payment is requested by 15th April.
Can anyone demystify this, please?
I haven't a clue what is going on and, basically, need reassurance from some experienced Ebay seller that this is all legit and to be expected.

you should be able to see a breakdown of what the fees are for...
click on view invoices or account status0 -
or it could be the fee that Ebay charge for a failed direct debit
if they tried to collect the money from your bank account to pay your fees and was unsuccessful, they will charge you £50 -

Thank you. They did not say that this would be the case so it comes as a surprise. Its description as a 'non-VATable' fee is also more than somewhat weird.0 -
The same happened a while back to me.
Had sold something and when ebay tried to take the fees from my account, supposidly it was refused even though the money was in there and my bank told me ebay hadnt even tried to take the money out.
I got the £5 fine, when onto the live help thing and managed to get it refunded as it wasnt my fault the money was refused0 -

Am very grateful for this. Can anyone please direct me to this 'live help' page, as it's not clear to me where it is?.. I am so tired with having no obvious help available on ebay to try to understand its deeper mysteries!0 -
