Car insurance problem help

Hi all , I have recently taken out a car insurance policy with a leading insurance provider , I am only 20 years old so not many will insure me considering the risk of young drivers. To my amazement i received a letter from them stating that i have not declared a claim which was dated 09 Aug 2009 to the amount of £6500 and the NCD decision was disallowed which i think means basically it was my fault. I don't have any knowledge of me putting a claim in or having an accident then and it being recorded on the claims and underwritten exchange database. Whats the best action to take inorder to find out the details about this claim and should i contact my solicitors totally lost on what action to take?

Reply to your insurer denying the incident, and ask them for the details.

Were you insured in 2009? In that case contact the insurer and get the details.

Either way, once you have the details of who paid out the claim then get in touch with the insurer to set about clearing your name.

(A definite way of finding out, but you will have to pay £10 is to go to CUE and get them to send details of what they have on file about your claim)

Hi thanks for your reply , i contacted the insurence company on the letter i recived from my insurence company they gave me some limited information about the claim they said it is on the car and not my name and could verify the information such as date and the reg number not
Nothing else due to data protection , i bought this car a few months ago and did a hpi check on it from hpicheck dot com and have had it insured on my mothers name as she was the primary driver none of this came
To light , the claim was for around 6500 and i paid the maket value for it surly it has been written of. Do i have any ground of a claim against hpi check as the offer a hpi gaurentee . Thanks in adance

Has it been on private plates in the past?

It may not be on the database for a small bump and a repair. Only if it was written off.

Who paid for the car and whose name was it registered in originally? Swapped keepers since?

Who did you buy the car off and how long ago?

Strange its not been picked up previously? Someone has probably made a booboo somewhere.

Keyed in the wrong reg maybe?

What is the car and its age?
