soil pipe

To cut a long story short
there is this soil pipe 110mm dia which has a grey union or junction box if you like, where a 40mm sink drain joins into it
The grey union piece has 60mm dia holes the 40mm dia sink drain goes into that hole with a rubber bung around it.
Well there are two 60mm holes and only one drain pipe, the other hole has been left open for the last 10 years by the cowboy builders who built it. and soiled water has been spashing out of that hole into the surrounding concrete floor, which has a damp proof membrane, so my calculation is that the whole floor is probably soaking wet under the tiles, as evidenced by the rising damp on all the walls surrounding this room.
What I need to do urgently is put a blanking plug into that hole.
I am going to a plumbing supplier tomorrow.
Does anyone know if there are 60mm blanks available?
And what glue do I use to stick it in there?
If it were my house I would probably dig up that floor and start again, but I doubt the owners will be doing this. I wonder if it will EVER dry out? Not that you notice it, as the floor is tiled, the only place you notice it, is by the rising damp on the walls about 8 inches on the bottom of each wall.

Don't assume tht the rising damp has been caused by the hole in the soil pipe. This may be coincidentalEat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

You may have to improvise, and use something not intended as a blanking plug, but which will cover the hole.
Like http://www.screwfix.com/p/soil-strap-boss-sp319/49547, then put a short length of 40mm pipe in with a blanking plug on that
Ask the guys behind the desk in the plumbing supply place for suggestions.
AFIK, you don't use glue or cement on the grey plastic soil pipes - these are a push fit on the joints with rubber sealing gaskets. I don't think solvent cement will 'take' on them.0 -
and don't assume that it is rising damp either 'cos its probably not.

not correct you can buy pushfit as you describe or you can buy solvent weldI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Plug the goddam thing and illiminate 1 possible cause of the damp.
Penetrating damp, which is what you would have in this case, is often confused with rising damp, you need to narrow it down.
The residual wet will probably take a year or so to lose if it is the source of the problem.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
I bought a new black rubber doughnut bung with a 40 mm hole for a 40mm waste pipe, I also got a 40mm white pipe blank to go in the hole. So it is now sealed and the source of the water has gone, I aim to leave the corner un-boxed for a year or 20
