I'd still be inclined to "try" them first before substituting fresher ones - just crack into a cup first and smell them - if the smell is ok I'd certainly use them. I recall that we didn't have fridge when I was growing up and we must have had some warm spells!Resolution:

don't forget where they are in the supermarket when you buy them.
When my daughter was a baby i bought some of the travel sized ready made milk to take on holiday and the room didn't have a fridge so i filled the basin with cold water and kept them there. When we got home my mum laughed and said they're only kept on a shelf at room temperature in the shops
