Unpaid item case help!

Sold an item and the buyer paid by eCheque. I sent the item without allowing it to clear (I know...DOH)
The buyer received their item yesterday and left me a nice positive.
The payment has now failed and so I opened an NPB. I know feedback is removed if left, once the NPB is shut, but the feedback is gone already!
My main concern is that they can leave me feedback again? Is this possible?
I have learned from my mistake, posted it early as I didn't want any low scores for despatch time if I left it a week - my first eCheque payment!
