Hiya,
Im a first timer on here, and i really need a bit of help as it seems no matter how many websites visit or phones numbers i ring no one can give me a straight answer...
Well my partner has been claiming JSA since May 2011 for the both of us, we claim CB (£20.30) and CTC (£60) for our 4 year old son, HB & CTB. But today my husband was awarded low care and low mobility DLA (totalling £41.10 a week). We were informed that we should be entitled to extra top up (premium) on our benefits. We currently do not get enough HB to cover our rent so this would be extremely useful if this true?? as apparantly we will have to chase it ourselves it doesnt happen automatically.
xx Thankyou xx

Who informed you?make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Yes it is true,

you are now entitled to couple rate disability premium
which is £43.25 a week
You can ring to JSA tell them, they will add it to the claim,
you will get the premium backdated to the date the DLA was awarded.
DLA do inform JSA by way of a download, but this can be missed so worth ringing0 -
Does getting this premium reduce any other benefit, it is often the case.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
no it doesnt ... it is paid to bring the JSA to the same level as ESA, and income support ( with the disability premium0

Thankyou,
The Benefits Advice Line told us we could be but were unsure if we were or not (all round everyone i have spoken to have been rather vague/unhelpful).. All i information i have got is i am expecting a payment of backdated DLA on tuesday and payments will be 4 weekly from that date.
I will call and chase it up if it isnt added to our claim before next JSA payment, as they're may be a cut off if not claimed. Would it affect other benefits or tax credits??
Also are we entitled to the premium even though only in receipt of low care and low mobility DLA??
Thankyou for replies xx0 -
Any rate of DLA gives you the disability premium,
because you are claiming as a couple,
you will get couple rate disability premium
There is no cut off, you are entitled to the premium, it will be awarded and paid on your JSA claim from the date of the DLA award and arrears issued if owed..........
Seen one today owed arrears from 2009
