Tax Credits - HELP Plz. They tell me my income is wrong!

Sorry I also meant to say, they said I would have to appeal as they were forced to correct my figures because I had got them wrong! :-(
Obviously they just took off the self employment losses and left us with our current PAYE income for last year... which put us back to square one... even though they accept the self employment with earnings of 0.00, they ignored the loss that I had advised them of arh0 -
IQ - Do you know what this means?
These payments are provisional until your tax credit claim for 2011-2012 is finalised and your claim for 2012-2013 is made.
Thing is I have made my 2012-2013 claim and have finalised (without choice) the figures for 2011-2012 because they took them from the tax office, now I am very lost? :-(0 -
Sounds like that notice is not the finalised one. You should get a 2011-2012 final notice.

Ah right I see, so the final one may arrive with the notice telling me why they have changed my figures...
Am I right in thinking that as long as I follow the process I will get my backpay, as long as my tax return and PAYE all matches with the figures that I provide in the appeal. They say they couldn't see the tax return, clearly because I only did it yesterday - which is annoying but a lesson learnt I guess.
Thanks IQ0 -
Are you trying to get the SE loss deducted from the PAYE earnings?
Your income for the year will be calculated as £0 for the SE part plus whatever you earnt under PAYE.0 -
Yes, which is quite legitimate. See the example at the end of page 3 of the TC825 http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/tc825.pdfAre you trying to get the SE loss deducted from the PAYE earnings?0 -
Yes as above, I am trying to get them to take the loss off.
I did it and gave them all the correct figures, but they chose to ignore me (perhaps call me a liar) and go back to the tax office to get new figures.
Unfortunately I hadn't completed my tax return at the time, I have now, but just means I have to appeal something that I am right about, really annoying but one of those things I guess! :cool:0
