overdraft request does it affect credit ratings...?

i called up abbey my bank to say that my money from abroad may come in a bit late so what were the options of getting an extra overdraft from £1500 to maybe £1700 for a week or so. they said they woudl have to make a new request through the underwriters and this woudl take another 48 hours. i told them in that case to forget it as my money would probably be in at that stage.
anyway a month on practically from the request I hear that they asked for the overdraft - even though i told them not to bother - and not only that but they turned me down (actually everytime i have ever requested anything from abbey they have always turned me down!!!).
i wonder now whether this affects my credit rating for a mortgage . thanks in advance.

I think many banks use their internal credit scoriung system for overdrafts, for peace of mind try using one of the free 30 days trials on experian and check your file, might be worth doing before you apply for a mortgage in case there is anything erroneous.
I have a good credit rating and Abbey wouldn't do anything for me when I was with them either.£2 Coin Savers Club (Christmas)- £86£1 Jar (Christmas)- £29Christmas Vouchers Saved: £1450
