Hi,
I am currently in the process of buying a house and will need building insurance for mortgage purposes.
How should I go about it? Should I go with my bank (lender) or go with someone else and also is it worth getting some quotes early on?
My bank (FD) use to send me promotions with the statements saying they will beat any building insurance renewal quote etc (this was when I didn't have a house to insure!)
I only instructed the solicitor last week.
Any suggestions most welcome.

Shop around as much as possible...you might also want to consider getting the contents insurance at the same time...
e.g. I'm paying about £110 a year on contents. The cheapest quote I got for buildings was £150 ish and to add contents was just an extra £60. I also intend to buy through quidco giving me a further £50 cashback
So definitely shop around.0 -
It is highly unlikely that your bank will be offering you the best deal. So shop around using something like Insure supermarket. To understand what you should ask for and things to change to get the best deal, have a read of this home insurance guide. The past: Single teenage mother of twins: debt everywhere!
