Oil spill claim and loss adjusters - how long does this take

Hi there
I have buildings only insurance on a property I let out. Whilst the property was empty between tenants someone broke into the garden and attempted to steal heating oil from a tank. The tank was trashed and oil spilled on the patio.
I've tried claiming on my insurance with Groupama. They have appointed a loss adjuster who I met at the property and was producing a report.
I've now had an invoice for over £1000 (inc VAT) for the clean up and new tank. My attempts to contact the loss adjuster (phone calls and email) have not been answered. I know that I probably won't be able to claim for the new tank but hoped I could claim for some of the other costs.
Has anyone had a similar issue and how long should it take to sort out - the incident occurred first week of July and I saw the loss adjuster the same week.
Thanks,
A.

how much oil leaked? did it absorb into the ground.... and does the ground alsope towards the house??
I ask as a friends tank leaked, and the oil ran towards the house. it seeped into the ground.
He ended up having to have the flooring replaced and new foundations laid. he was out of his house for near a year.Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -
The tank should fall under buildings cover.
It's only been a few weeks which isn't really that long.
If you instructed the clean up etc then you are liable for the bill so you could pay it and send to the adjusters for reimbursement. If the adjusters instructed it just send the bill to them.
I assume the insurers know that it's let out and they provide cover during periods of unoccupancy.0
