Homebase Kitchen Price Match Guarantee

Hi All,

Homebase offer a price match guarantee for kitchens promising to match any quote then beat it by 10%. This guarantee is garbage. I took my IKEA quote to Homebase Horsham where the lady confirmed the price match guarantee. She did mention that as far as appliances go they only price match if the brands are the same. This I thought was fair enough so asked her to quote for just the comparable kitchen units. IKEA gloss black Vs Homebase gloss black. Should have been straight forward enough right? Wrong! After 3 days of delaying me, telling me how Regional Managers were having to authorise the price match as the Homebase price was way higher I got a final call explaining that they can't get anywhere near the IKEA price and that they won't price match as the two kitchens where not comparable!! Then the lady started to waffle on about her reasons why this was the case, all of which where absolute tosh. An example would be "Sir, our kitchens are of a much higher quality, hence we offer a 10 year guarantee" This as opposed to IKEA's '25' year guarantee!! To cut a long story short, Homebase's price match guarantee is false advertising. After reading about the poor quality of the kitchens they supply and poor customer service on MSE, I wouldn't have gone with them even if they had beaten the IKEA quote.
