There are valves at both ends of the Rad. Try turning the other one off as well.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

What kind of heating system do you have?

If your whole heating system is on a timer, and it's coming on for a few hours a night, wouldn't you be better off adjusting the timer controls?

Just the same as any tap. Clockwise.

He wants the rad off, not the system.

As the earlier posted said, on a twin pipe system the other valve needs turning off too, simples :money:;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Its 26 degrees out, I suspect there is an underlying knowledge shortfall in the OP's understanding of the operation of their central heating system, why would they want any radiators on?
    We need information.

i don't think it's the OP that needs that !!
my guess is that this rad is connected to the boiler flow & return so it will work when ever the boiler is working on either hot water or heating, hence why it comes on for a few hrs cause the boiler is heating the hot water.
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
