Lodger left leaving outstanding charges

Hi! I have a rather hopeless situation where my lodger left (I wasn't there when she left) and although agreed to pay £100 towards the cost of filling holes she'd made in the wall, left without paying. She has also moved to USA.
I know its not worth going after the money and I probably can't anyway BUT is it worth writing to her new employers (she's going to be a PhD student but they have teaching duties) or something like that? Like a letter of reccommendation or something? Telling them about it? Would it achieve anything?

What happened to taking a deposit from your lodger?
Writing to her employers abroad will achieve nothing0 -
Not worth the effort. Just deduct £100 from her deposit.0

She said she couldn't afford to leave the deposit and would just pay me for whatever I thought needed doing and like an idiot i agreed.
I guess it would be worth it if I had the address of her new estate agents?0 -
Wouldn't make any difference. Just write it off and move on.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Lessons have been learnt then.
Writing to people in the USA won't help you with anything.
Cut your loses and move on.What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
Social media?
If she looks bad then it might be she coughs up. I think that is your only option.
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
You've learnt very basic lesson. Always take a deposit. And don't return it till all rent, damage, debts etc are paid for - that's what a deposit is for!
Forget, move on, do better next time.0
