income based ESA? What income and capital (excluding the home that you live in) do you have?

Start charging your close friend rent. Unless this close friend is your partner...Then your partner will have to support you.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

FRom my reading of this, it's the "close friend" that isn't charging the OP rent - not the other way round.

BUt I agree with the rest of your mail - the OP shoud lbe entitled to income based ESA unless the "close friend" is being considered as a partner or the OP has capital to live off - we need to know more about their circumstances to be able to say.

"theyve basically said im not entitled to claim anything"

Sorry, doesn't this answer your question?

I'm a bit confused that they have told you you cannot claim anything but you come to an open forum asking what you can claim?!?!

Do you beleive they are lying to you? or should your question be better phrased as "Am I entitled to anything?"

its you who doesn't pay rent yes? is your close friend male? not that this is a problem but it will make them look at you in closer detail.

I take this to mean that you don't pay rent.

Who has told you that you are not entitled to claim anything?

If you are unfit for work and your contribution based ESA has finished then you are entitled to apply for income based ESA. I thought that assessment for ESA was done automatically but I may be wrong.

Have you been assessed for income based ESA? If so then there must be a reason why you have been turned down.

Income basd ESA is assessed according to your household income/savings/capital.

If you want further help then you will need to tell us the circumstances of your household.
