I currently have a card which I want to tranfer the balance of, barclaycard looks likes a great deal but as I'm on maternity leave won't meet the minimum earnings required, can my partner apply for the card and tranfer a balance from my card?

Its possible to do a transfer from a card in one name to a card in another. It has to be different card providers - so eg if you already had a barclaycard he would need a different provider.
Its usually advised to do the transfer online once the new account is set up - where all you enter is the old card number and an amount. Sometimes when people do a transfer by phone the card provider will ask whose name the account is in - in which case he would need to say in your name - and sometimes certain banks will then refuse to do the transfer.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Check the terms carefully.
Santander, for example, DO NOT allow transfers of anyone else's balance.
But most card issuers don't mind.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

I just transferred balances from my name to my wife's to take advantage of some interest free. Absolutely no problem whatsoever.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0

No problems doing this in the past.
I've done this with:
Virgin
Nationwide
Bank of Scotland
Barclaycard
Only thing to make sure of is that the issuing bank isn't the same.
Eg. Not Virgin to Virgin
Also be careful of real provider.
Eg. Virgin cards are issued by MBNA so therefore a MBNA to Virgin transfer would not be allowable to get the 0% deal.
Cheers,
