He would be better off selling the house and purchasing a new flat for himself and a house for you to live in. That way you wouldn't need any HB from the govt and he could still retain his capital (and your future inheritance)
The value of the house certainly wouldn't buy a house and a flat ! haha if only0 -
Is your father going to be a "true landlord".
Eg have a lease - pay for items that go wrong in the home, kick you out if they sanction your benefits, pay tax on his earnings, have landlord insurance etc
If you do it "all above board" it stands more chance than an informal agreement.0 -

I don't see how (although it should be) this is benefit cheating when it is perfectly acceptable.
Clearly shouldn't be - but it is and as a result isn't benefit cheating more taking advantage of a stupid system that allows this.
Doens't make them a benefits cheat - just low morals who will scrounge every penny and maximise the sytem.0 -

no just a dig at dognobs who today, accused me of going off on jollys when i shouldn't because i claim disability benefits, the evidence he managed to scrape together was some photos of me at a wedding... my wedding 5 weeks ago and tried to accuse me of benefit fraud.0 -

I'm never a huge fan of bringing personal issues onto threads TBH....much as I would love to with a few poster on MSE :rotfl:0 -
Sorry, i was just so angry last night that having people sending pm's to me telling me this person had gone out their way to find a facebook link i had on the wedding forums with the other new brides, we were showing each other our weddings etc, and he chose to use that to claim that whilst i am disabled and getting a free car out of the state (dla) i was out having the time of my life.
Well yes i was having the time of my life, i was at my own wedding just a few short weeks ago.
It does go to show dognobs hasn't a clue half the time what they are on about and make false accusations, one day it will get them in serious trouble.0 -
OP yes you can rent off him as long as there is a legal tenancy aggreement drawn up and adhered to by both sides and yes you can still claim housing benefit as long as the rent is in keeping with the rental prices in your area.
My daughter/son-in-law and there 2 children rented from her father, there were certain paperworks etc., that had to be shown but she had no problem at all.0
