Gas and planning queries for potential new home...

We viewed a house today and LOVE it!
It is in need of modernisation but mostly appears to be cosmetic.
I hope someone may be able to help me with a couple of queries...
There is no gas supply to the house but the road does have gas. Who do I contact to get some kind of quote for connecting the house?
There is a front garden, we would like to turn part of it into one off road parking space - is there any way I can find out if there is a chance of planning being granted for this? The road is very easy to park on and it appears no other houses on the same side of the road have done this, but the houses opposite have. We need ORP for insurance reasons.
Thanks you

is the house you're looking at on a bend? road alignment could mean that the highway authority wold resist cars reversing back out onto a bend for example.0

No, the road is completely straight and a quiet road, there is a pavement but virtually no kerb so a dropped kerb wouldn't be needed.
Anyone know how I find out without actually going through a planning process??0 -
The company in charge of administering connecting gas is National Grid. However they're not the only company authorised to make connections.
Here is their webpage where you can request a quote:

The cost isn't just installing the curbstones - the pavement usually needs to be reinforced to protect the services running underneath from the weight of vehicles passing over.
If you ring the council (a central call centre here) they will be able to give you an idea of the costs.0 -
We bought a house 2 years ago with NO GAS and only old electric storage heaters.
Now we rang National grid to get the gas connected then we rang British Gas to have a meter installed.
well the nice man at BG said are you having a new gas central heating system installed with a Combi boiler? Answer of course I am
Well the nice man said we could claim a large grant which covered all costs of having gas pipe and meter installed. Please check with BG0
