Hi - I've got BT phoning me back at 11:45 to confirm whether I would like to change to their fibre optic scheme.

Currently on AOL (!) but it's unlimited and the BT package is £2.01 per month extra (except first 3 months which is cheaper in order to 'make up' for BT installation and delivery costs).

Should I do it?

Currently I am on the computer all day and evening with about 6 hours OFF it. No games, would like to view a few YouTubes/iPlayer/movies, but nothing much.

In essence, I would just like to be able to be on the internet constantly with a faster, more reliable download. My computer is Asus X5D series, with 3GB memory.

Hope you can help.

PS I have the Sony bravia internet TV, would BT hub work with this, please? (Sony Bravia KDL-40EX723 using Netgear Adapter to work through my walls!)

Which BT package? You really want the "Unlimited BT Infinity 2" which is 80mb down and 20mb up for £26/month.

The others have 40gb a month usage (which is upload and download unless you are with Zen).

As a guide, iPlayer uses about 700mb/hour. So one TV program a day will use over half of your allowance ...

Thank you boxst. So grateful for you reply. Sorted it out for me. Thank you! It was the 40gb limit, which they assured me would be fine, absolutely fine. Clearly it would not be!

Would prefer to stick with AOL and unlimited then, until they increase their prices, but currently just paying £15.99 a month.

    Thanks

if you can get infinity you might be able to get Sky fibre, who do a 40/10 package for £20 a month but which is totally unlimited, which might be worth while looking into, although you do need to change your telephone line rental and calls to them which might be a problem
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

Also, talktalk's plus package is unlimited, and is available on tt'sllu'd fibre'd exchanges. Can't remember cost OTTOMH, but AOL is part of TT, ask AOL about fibre boost which should give unlimited d/l with the fibre speed for extra £10 a month over what you have now, but also less disruption in changing over.....

On our smart TV watching BBC Iplayer (Line of duty) for an hour in HD used about 1GB. Watching at lower quality is an option, but that's still about 700 MB for the hour, as mentioned above.

    Stick with AOL
