Seller made me leave positive feedback before refunding for SNAD item

As above. I just had an unpleasant transaction where the item arrived damaged so I opened a case and sent it back for a refund. However he left a message that said he won't refund me until I leave positive feedback which I wasn't going to do because he was being rude to me for days and it made me feel awful. He would leave me 6 or 7 messages while I was at work saying that I'm awful and trying to scam him. Anyways, I left him positive feedback because I was worried he wouldn't refund. Is there any way I can report him or change my feedback to honestly describe the situation?

Report the case to customer services. If all the messages were sent via ebay then they'll be able to track them all, and help with ensuring you get a refund. You should also be able to retract feedback via cs.

If you did a SNAD claim via ebay then he had to refund, regardless of feedback.

You can follow up feedback left.

Leave a follow-up after you win the case: 'Left positive feedback under duress, seller refused to refund unless I did so'. OK, it may get removed, but it would probably make them think twice about doing it again.

Or, better still, report them for feedback extortion; keep their emails where they ask you to do this.

Given I know I have watertight buyer protection, I would never, ever accede to any demand like this, unless the seller behaved well and actually deserved positive. Feedback is quite a powerful weapon you have against sellers who behave poorly towards their buyers - you wouldn't get treated by a shop this way, and taking money for items you don't immediately receive in your hands afterwards requires some sort of system to make sure you are not defrauded - feedback is part of this - so never, ever, let an eBay seller do this to you.

thanks everyone. I've contacted CS about it.

I'm selling a few bits myself (random household things) and noticed that the seller has bid on all of my items before I got a chance to block him. I feel like he's only doing this to give me trouble. Is there anything I can do? He's won one item and I've removed his bids for the other things and then blocked him.

Contact CS about unwelcome/malicious bidding as well.

What an idiot - compromising his ability to trade on eBay for one moment of trying to protect his feedback from his own stupidity :(.

Thanks crowqueen. Yes he is an idiot. He also pretends to be a private seller and I've just looked at his feedback and realised he sells loads of identical electronic items and brand new things making it unlikely that he's a private seller.

What a load of hassle. Wish I blocked him earlier.

Do as crowqueen says, but make sure you phone - don't live chat or email. Explain it all, the feedback manipulation and the auction interference.

Its wise to have a different Ebay account for selling items to prevent this sort of thing happening. Might be worth doing as they may register another account and still cause problems in the future.

If you open another ebay account you just need a different e-mail address, it can still be liked to the same Paypal account

Thanks very much for that advice.

The guy did exactly what you said and he's won another one of my items. Surprise surprise, same address as the other item. Wow ebay is so frustrating lately. I keep telling myself I'm going to stop buying on there but I'm so drawn to the cheap prices of everything.
