Question for Barclaycard users

in Credit cards
I just got a barclaycard recently (first credit card) and my minimum payment for this month is £10. I paid £20 off it yesterday. My available credit has gone up by £20 so it has been registered but it's still saying the minimum of £10 is due.
Hopefully it's just the system that needs to update. Could someone let me know if this is normal
Thanks

When did you get your statement? (Have you had a statement, yet?)
When is the payment due date?
Are you set up to pay by direct debit?
Do you know that if you don't pay the balance in full each month you will get charged interest at a high rate (unless you're in a deal period)?0 -
Barclaycard does take a few days to update, I have returned things back onto my card in the hope it would have cleared before I get my statement, but it hasn't, and i've still had to pay it off. It was faster when it was an Egg card!0

Have you seen the rate that Barclaycard have put the old egg cards at 29%, and thats for a worse service than with egg, as I'd agree EVERYTHING seems slower with Barclaycard, its all about squeezing as much out of you that they can it seems. Its atrocious they can do it when being on such a low rate when it was an egg card. And yes cynics I know if I paid it off in full then I wouldn't be charged interest

This is the first statement since I've had the card. It started to show about 10 days ago. The payment is due in approx 20 days
No I'm not set up to pay by direct debit. I prefer to make one off payments with my debit card.
Something I don't understand is - I paid £20 off and now the credit limit has increased by exactly £20 so where is the interest? Does that start being added after the first month?0 -
Difficult to say as mine shows the direct debit details. But I guess the next bit might be similar.
If you log in, the middle section at the bottom is headed "Pay your card bill". Click this.
On mine I then see three boxes at the top.
It shows the full statement balance.
It shows the payment due date, with a comment saying "We have not yet received a payment from you"
And it shows "Pending payments total", which is "Payment you have made yet to be cleared". On mine this shows as 0.00.
Do you get these boxes?
What do they say?
If they suggest no payment has been made then I'd say check that the payment you made was after you received your statement. Check that the payment you made isn't included in your statement.
You still have a chance to pay the balance in full before the payment due date (lets hope you can!). So you still might not be charged interest.Something I don't understand is - I paid £20 off and now the credit limit has increased by exactly £20 so where is the interest? This does suggest that you could spend all the way up to your limit before they apply interest. At which point you'd be over your limit. So be careful.
As long as you allow for the estimated interest shown on your statement (or better, though I may have mentioned this already!!, pay off in full before the due date) then you should be fine.0 -
If I pay off by debit card it takes between 12 & 24 hours to appear.
Faster payments usually updates more quickly.
Any payment should be accordingly reflected, though I think it sometimes takes a few hours extra.0
