hello all ,

we are considering buying a used car , now any help would be very very grateful
1- we were thinking of a vw bora (2000-2001) reg , would consider paying between 3-4000
2- we have seen a price for a v reg which is £3000 just under an it has 56,000 miles on the clock . Full service history,12 months MOT,3 month warranty,1 previous owner.ABS,Immobiliser, central locking,Electric sunroof,Duel airbags,Computer,PAS.In oustanding condition , so they say !!

3- this is from a trade garage , can we get any discount ???
4- we also have a 51 fiesta flight , would we be better selling privately or going in for part exchange , an how much do u think is reasonable ect

thank you to all who reply

joanne

3 - no harm in trying. just the usual haggling techniques.

4 - if you want to get as much cash as possible then sell the fiesta privately. Look on autotrader, parkers etc to see what it's worth. when you have an idea you can offer it up for trade and see whether they will give you anything close to its value for it, but i suspect you'll get more money sellingprivately (of course, this is extr hasssle)

    what they said

although concerning the trade garage, if you are paying cash/card, then you can always get money off, it is right at the end of the financial year, they will do a deal before april, just to get a sale.

i just got rid of my w reg volvo s40 , i part exchanged it as i dont have a driveway and didnt want to pay for 2 lots of tax and insurance while trying to sell the s40. i had seen the car i wanted and woould have made more money selling my car and then buying the new one, unfortunately if i had sold my car first, i would have had no way to get to the other car to buy it, the car iwanted may have also been sold, leaving me with nothing.

one thing i would say is NEVER and i mean NEVER, go to car craft, or carSHAFT as i call them. they quoted me a price for my car which would have saved me advertising mine, i phoned to double check that they would actually offer the quoted price as i didnt want to be messed about, they said it would be the price or very near.

i turned up the day i was getting my new car from someone and had a friend who brought his car so i could shift my car and then drive to get the new one, they kept me waiting 1 hour and then offered 1/2 of what they had originally quoted. they then said that because i had described it as in 'good' condition, to them, 'good' means showroom condition and then made a list of faults that were not there.
