Altercation with Sainsburys Meathead involving Euro Car Parks

I went shopping in Sainsburys and other places.
Come out to find a Euro Car Parks Goon imputting details of car in to his machine and taking a pic.
So i decide to take a photo of this goon and he did not like that one bit, so off he went to get security. This meat head then comes out of the store to ask me to stop doing it etc and would remove me if i didnt. First thing i say is where is your SIA badge, he says "hes on his break so i dont need to display it". He then says i am can not take photos of the euro car park person.
I say actually yes i an as its a public place as the car park is actually owned by the local council. I advise him that if he was to lay a finger on me in this public place then i would have him arrested for criminal assault. He then proceeds to get the Sainsburys manager out who when asked who owns the land he says "the council".
It was at this car park recently that they have only recently covered up the word "fine".
I said i could stand in the car park all day taking photos as it was a public place and i was not committing any offence.
I also advised them and said goon, should he wish to put an invoice on my car then i would again take a photo and the pictures would appear on a internet site near you!

My local Sainsburys had covered all the machines up the other day when I went in there with signs up saying "2 hours free parking for sainsburys customer while we upgrade our machines"
Not been back there since but I think this is in relation to an increase in charges for the car park. Prices were due to go up by 50p an hour on the 25th. Not sure why they would cover the machines though and not just continue to charge the old rate...
Will be visiting them over the weekend to see whats been going on.
"Meat head" must be a requirement of employment for ECP in Sainsburys car parks as we've got one too.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

Go and post them anyway - Sounds like these jokers are fully deserving of it!

And maybe think of carrying one of those little pen cameras in a top pocket as a belt and braces measure. I now use one almost every time I'm working in a public place because of past run-ins with security goons - and the reluctance giving their SIA details is not that unusual either and it alone is fully grounds for complaint.0 -

BASFORDLAD - I really cannot see that you have done ANYTHING wrong. The only potential issue might have arisen had you been filming/recording/photographing with hidden equipment with the intention of sharing it for your own purposes (i.e. not in the general public interest). As you were doing it quite openly in a very public and well-used space, you are perfectly entitled to act as you did.
After all, you COULD have been doing a magazine, blog or newspaper feature on supermarkets across the country... and the fact that these nutjobs "just happened" to wander into your line of vision was simply "unfortunate"...

"Front line licence holders must wear the licence where it can be seen at all times when working (unless you have reported it lost or stolen, or it is in the possession of the SIA). Your licence can be withdrawn or suspended if this condition is not met.
However, you are exempt from this requirement if you can demonstrate that the nature of your licensable activities on any specific occasion requires that you not be immediately identifiable as someone carrying out licensable activities (for example, if you are a store detective or a close protection operative). However, you must still carry your licence on you and be able to produce it on request".0 -
as the council own the car park surely euro car parks have no legal right to issue any tickets or am i barking up the wrong tree , just thinking of the case that vcs lost due to them not owning the land0

No, that's correct. The leaseholder might have a case (i.e. the company that the council lease it to), but certainly not the PPC.Je Suis Cecil.0
