Which Ipad?

I'm hoping to get an Ipad next week but am clueless as to which one I should go for:o
Basically, I want one to browse the internet, emails, download films, music, simple games and take photos & videos.
I am assuming the Ipad covers all of those - in which case would an Ipad 2 do me, or does the Ipad 3 offer much more?
We are off on holiday to to Florida soon and my idea was to get one before we go to load films, games and music on to for my daughter & me and to hopefully take videos with it - would it be god enough quality to leave the camcorder at home?
I see the new Ipad has cellular unlike the Ipad 2...and that is what exactly...??????
Finally - how many gbs do I need - obviously the more you have the more expensive but I dont want to run out of gbs once I have 2 movies and a game on it!
Many thanks.
Thick and past it!

Ipad 2 (wifi) is only widely available in 16gb = £329 or less (£259 refurbished if you can get your hands on one)
16gb is going to fill up too quickly for you if you many load films on to it. 32gb would be your minimum.
Cellular/3G means you can insert a data sim card into it & use it on the internet beyond your wifi.
I don't think it's a good idea \ very practical to hold up an ipad for a lengthy period of time as a video recorder.0 -
I agree with the 'hold up for a video' comment. The iPad is quite light (the iPad 3 is heavier) but for any length of time holding it up is painful. Plus it is quite large to carry around for video, if you have a good-ish phone (iPhone 4 etc..) they will do HD video.
The difference between the iPad 2 and 3 is negligable at the moment. If you have the money, buy a 3 as it'll last longer in terms of performance. Apple seem to last about two generations (two years!) before the older device starts to lag behind.0 -
Sorry to sound dim but if I don't get the cellular one, would I still get internet coverage in America?
Hadn't thought about holding it up for ages taking video:o Good point.0 -
You get coverage but it'll cost you a fortune!
If you are abroad you will generally be reliant on WiFi in your hotel to connect to the internet.
America seems quite behind in terms of PayAsYouGo Data SIM cards (I can't find any reasonable ones anyway and there was a thread on here about it) so you can't just buy one locally.0 -

It's a clumsy machine for taking photos and videos, especially if you have it in a fold-over case, because the fold that normally covers the screen covers the camera lens unless you hold it out of the way, making the overall package twice the size of the pad itself.
It's fine for casual photos, but I wouldn't want to be without a proper camera or camcorder for 'serious' use.
If you get within range of a WiFi hotspot, you'll be able to access internut.
If you have a 3G one, I would expect that any SIM card and data package purchased in the UK won't work in the States, and you'll probably have to purchase a different SIM over there. Open to correction on this, though.0
