Friday (Yippee!!!) 27th July - What Small DFW Things Will You Do Today??!!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning  me starting us off again! Can you tell I'm happy its the weekend? I also have the day off as well today :j was debating going in as the weather is going to be rubbish but now the day is here... :rotfl:

OF - sorry that does sound hilariously wrong what your boss/uncle has done! I would be v annoyed!

La E my watch didn't sell again, despite there being 11 watchers??? Not entirely sure why but am taking it as a sign and keeping it! Have been wearing it for the last few weeks and am reminded that I do love it!

Had a letter off of E.on to say we have been overpaying so they have reduced our monthly instalments by £25pm and returned £51 to us, so that explains that. It also says the first payment is on 1st Sept so I'm presuming we won't make a payment in August? If that's the case, including the pittance earned on ebay, we have now fully covered the cost of 1 festival ticket :T bum deal no such luck! Still taking last old amount this month.... Really disappointed as thought we'd managed to get the tickets for less than 1/2 price! although have just counted penny pot and got another £11 together and have a couple of things ending on ebay so we may just do it afterall! Currently the tickets would cost us £62 each (from £112.50) so much effort for so little payout!

Anyway enough rambling!!!

Today's efforts:
  • [STRIKE]checked banking[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]checked oh's cc and payment has been posted - hurrah no late payment for me! :T[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]did vsp and updated sig, will post on the thread in a moment[/STRIKE]
  • all meals from stores - get something out of the freezer in a bit
  • onepoll & swagbucks
  • go to the gym for a gym, swim & sauna session
  • [STRIKE]Mrs Flylady a couple of rooms[/STRIKE] phew! have done loads and that's my lot!
  • NSD??? Have done really well with these this week I think this will be my 3rd
  • [STRIKE]search for a recipe for sweet potatoes to use them up[/STRIKE] found a veg shepherd's pie I can do ;)

[STRIKE]Think I will call E.on and find out - of course will use saynoto0870![/STRIKE]

[STRIKE]First I'm going to go back to bed for an hour and read my book :D
    [/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]have arranged for someone to come and look at the hula hoop I am selling at 4 - need to clean it up[/STRIKE] sold :T
  • [STRIKE]found another £2 for the fund [/STRIKE]
  • will thread my own eyebrows rather than paying £5 for it
  • shower at the gym later
  • [STRIKE]called landlord and booked soe repairs - one to our toilet which means it just keeps flushing! They are coming on Monday[/STRIKE]

DF as at 30/12/16
Wombling 2026: £25.70

    Hi everyone

    Yippee indeed! :j

Thanks for the kick off DNMS!

    Here's me:
    • Think up my TV quiz show application answers :D Thinking how to 'describe myself'… - this could take a while :rotfl:
    • Free cuppa in work x 2
    • Post sale (didn't do this yest…)
    • Find something cheap for lunch
    • Leftovers for dinner
    • Chilled night at home with OH and the puppy
    • Think we've found paint in the sale for our bedroom - 2 for £20 on Dulux so £40 should cover it :T
    • Using 'Rescue Oil' as a cleanser (oil cleansing method) - much cheaper than Lush's ultrabland, which I love.
    • Using Lush solid deodorant - much better than that aluminium aerosol stuff and lasts for ages. (Just thought I may not have mentioned this one before...)
  • Good morning! Thanks to DNMS for starting us off

Wooo Friday and it's sunny! :j

So I haven't posted for a bit, been very hectic but I have been lurking silently. Not been very mse as such but am holding firm to not spending money I don't have.

After another bumper payment to the cc this month, we are now just over 60% debt free, plus I will have paid off my first cc next month.

Also today I will have finished the hellish project that has been causing me so much overtime (although might miss the £££)

    So today's mse things are:

    Charge phone in work

    Update signature with new totals

Only take £10 to the pub later (celebrating with colleagues that project is finished )

Try and stick to diet (vodka diet coke later!) as have put 1/2lb back on. But am still only 9 12 (beterr than 10 4!)

Breakfast, lunch and dinner from stores. No excuse here because have tonnes of food in the house.

Think that's about it. Have a good one everybody :)
    LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013
    Total repaid: £10,490.31

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hello everyone

Yay for the early weekend start, DNMS!
Oh my La E I missed that you have a puppy! any chance of photos?
    Amazing debt busting, carrie!

I am just back from leave and absolutely exhausted. My mum has been here for two weeks and took a lot of carting around and shuffling, looking forward very much to spending the weekend at home! Had a birthday while she was here and got the very practical present of some much needed drinking glasses. OH (who is travelling) managed to completely forget my birthday, what do you ladies think I should demand as a guilt offering once he's back :rotfl: :rotfl:

Anyway, getting down to that pre-payday scraping so today:

    - order knickers to be sent to our london office for someone to bring over :D
    - bike everywhere I need to go
    - lunch provided at a meeting, tea at home
    - meal plan for week and buy some veg
    - mate's house for drinkies this evening
    - email estate agent, we want to move house soon!

Happy friday everyone, can't wait for the w/e!!!
    Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000
:DDebt free as of 1 October, 2010:D
Taking my frugal life on the road!
  • Hi everyone

Gawd, I can tell I've not been on here in ages, but I can feel myself starting to fall off the wagon again so I need to get back on it again before I get into trouble.
Sorry about my not being on - real life has just been getting in the way for a few weeks... and I haven't been able to find the time.
Still, 5 weeks today until the wedding and OH going back to work next week after 5 months on the sick (I'm so relieved). I'm paying out loads of wedding stuff at the moment and I'm noticing how easy it is just to stick a couple of extra bits and bobs on here and there. Plus it's summer hols to there are children to entertain. I need to get back into planning, and this thread is brilliant for that!
So I hope you'll have me back and here's my list:
:D Washing done and on line drying
    :D Lunch at a friend's house
:D Write grocery shopping list and stick to it
:D Only buy wedding related items on my list, not others because I like them
:D Just me and the kids tonight (OH away for the weekend) so pizza and a film on telly
    :D Back on flylady wagon
:D Start keeping my spending diary again.

That's about it for now I think.

  • Happy birthday NTBY!!!! Hope it was mucho fun. Re oh I think I might be tempted to take the higher moral ground and I think you might just get a better bounty anyway - "self induced" guilt is more generous than "forced" I find! :rotfl:

    Hi everyone.

Thanks Ziggy for asking about me the other day. I haven't been online recently. Just been horribly busy so no time to post.

One week to pay day. so trying to be very frugal over the next few days. Hopefully the weather will stay good so I can try to get the gardens sorted out over the weekend.

Hugs to everyone that needs them. Have a great day.
Debt free since December 2015. It can be done
