Does he need electricity? Are there any power points in the garden or will he need access to the house anyway?
Extension lead through small kitchen window.

You do have a compost heap I assume? If not, you might find you acquire one. Best to leave it to, err, mature, for a while before putting it on the roses, and courgettes.

Reading the preceding posts, I now agree do not let him use the house. Do you live near a Homebase, B&Q, Sainsburys etc? They have loos.

When our neighbour had their garden landscaped and re-fenced the workmen just used our garden as their toilet. I think they forgot where the boundary was ... if the amount of concrete around the fence posts that poured into our garden was anything to go by.

Depending on what type of gardening work you're having done, professional gardeners usually have petrol mowers, strimmers etc, so he wouldn't need electricity.

I would only leave the side gate open so he could get access to the garden and no, I wouldn't give him keys or leave the house unlocked. I have a house cat and wouldn't trust not to let him escape.

Eeeeww! Far too much information. Have you thought of sueing for trespass by the byproduct?

When I had my garden done the workmen were offered access to my loo but declined, giving muddy clothes and boots as the reason. They used to disappear now and then to fetch various supplies and equipment as well as lunches, cigarettes and pop. They told me they often used the facilitites at nearby supermarkets, garages and pubs. So dont worry, and certainly dont leave your home open as they may pop out and leave it unlocked. Your insurance would certainly be invalidated.
