Sorry but if someone's asking for advice it is appropriate to give your view as it's an open forum

This section is for benefits advice... not medical advice or political views on medical problems. And just for clarity.. the Op never asked for medical advice anyway. If you're a qualified psychiatrist or similar then perhaps you could contact the Op in private and offer some professional advice.

The criteria for offering benefits advice is not to be qualified, but to have knowledge and/or experience - hence thousands of advisors who work for CAB and other similar organisations are unqualified. The criteria for offering medical or pyschiatric advice to a person is a qualification as well as the ability and availability of first hand knowledge of that person's own experience of the condition neither of which anyone here has wrt to the OP.

    I see.

However I've lost count of the number of times I've seen 6 different posters offering 6 different types of advice to one asked question. Which advice is the correct one?

Muttley has spent time and effort helping many people on this forum, my Son included.
Due to his advice my Son's problems were solved more quickly after months of struggling with what seemed a lost cause!
I am sure that there are many people on the Forum who have been helped due to Muttley's efforts!!!!!!!

    * Looks up the criteria for being a sanctimonious ... *

smiler651 is new, and probably doesn't know the forum rules. Would it not be better to tell them that the forum does not allow medical advice, rather than being quite so patronising? Perhaps he was giving his own experience, just as you have given yours?

The best cure for depression and anxiety is keeping busy.

I don't believe doctors should be issuing medical certificates for this, as it encourages people to stay at home doing nothing. People mull over things, getting more and more depressed.

If people keep busy they wont have time to be depressed, and they might actually start to enjoy their lives

My post that you quoted was in reply to post #14 written by spamfree and I quoted his/her post to make that clear
