Anyone know of any cheap ways to travel around the world.
We are looking at setting off before september 5th (but as near to then as possible)
We have to go to San Francisco first, then we'd like to go to Buenos Aires, Australia and Thailand and anywhere between or not - Fiji sounds fun in Monsoon season.
(we are also open to not going to South America, and while New Zealand is on the way, we aren't that fussed about it)
Our best itinerary so far is LON-SFO (by land to LA) LAX-SYDNEY-SINGAPORE-INDIA-LON = 850+tax (probably about 300, so 1150 total)
If anyone knows of any good offers around that time/route or just a good place to find cheap tickets, I'd be grateful.
Plus any advice on where to go/stay/see too, whatever.
The thing is, all my family have done these trips before me, and I'd like mine to be a little different to theirs, India is somewhere I'd like to go, and they havent been to - and I'd love to see a lot of asia. Can that be done over land cheaply? Anywhere special to go?
I also want to dive at some ancient ruins, does anyone know anywhere you can do that?
Thanks guys.

Hi,
That's a good price for your itinerary. RTW ticket prices are fixed by the airlines, so you won't make a saving, unless you do very dull LHR - HKG - AKL - LAX - LHR on Air New Zealand. I can recommend Global Travel in Brighton - a friend used them and said they were knowledgable.
Yonks ago on this forum I posted a massive interesting trip entirely on low cost carriers that would take you to Oz and back - both ways via Asia though - and defo. not South America!
Judging by your route, looks like you're doing a Virgin ticket - may I recommend flying into Las Vegas - or Miami if you have the time - you shouldn't miss the Grand Canyon, or if you fly into Miami you can greyhound across the southern states - New Orleans, Texas etc - a trip i've done and incredibly memorable (and cheap!). SFO - LAX doesn't give you much of a flavour of the US!

Thanks for your reply.
Actually the reason I want to go to SFO is because my wife is from CA and that's the nearest airport to her town. And we do plan to travel around the US independently of the RTW ticket.
I hadn't thought about using budget airlines, that sounds interesting.
And my dad mentioned today that RyanAir or one of those is planning on flying to the US in the near future. I dunno where he heard that, but it sounded pretty interesting.0
