Driving to Cork

We are driving to Youghal near Cork in Southern Ireland and would like to know if it would be best to get the ferry to Dun Laoghaire or Dublin. I know they are close to each other but i have heard that the traffic around Dublin is quite bad.
The drive from Dublin to Youghal will take 3-4 hours, so any sugestion for a nice place to stop for lunch would be appreciated.

You may prefer to get the ferry from Wales to Rosslare, which would mean less driving when you get to ireland?

Yes I would back this journey everytime. Remember the roads in Ireland are not Motorways and it may take you a good deal longer than you anticipated.

If you did decide to do this route , I can reccomend stopping in Waterford town, ther are plenty of places to eat and it is quite a pleasant place. It would be about half way on your journey . Good luck and enjoy yourselves .

I’m travelling from the North West so any time saved on the Irish side by travelling via Rosslare would more than be lost on the drive to Fishguard.
