PPI - bank statements needed

I have made two inquiries for PPI sending evidance of payments made. The company i am making the claim against has said for me to proceed they need evidence of all the PPI repayments made (bank statements) for them to proceed as the account was closed over 6 years ago. I obviously dont have these should i still persue the claim through the ombudsman?
Advice would be appreciated.

The FOS will be of no use to you. They will ask the lender to pay out what can be proven by you or them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
