Free holidays from Zerostresshaus

This is the time of the year when the world goes bonkers. Call me a dismal old cynic if you will, but I think the late, and great, Fred Dibnah had a point when he referred to "the holiday job". Before you pass over this post, stop and think for a while - of all those great foreign holidays you had in the past - were they really so great? Or were they not a series of hurdles to be overcome on the way to that great tan? Believe you me I've tried them all. I've been eaten by mosquitos, terrified by pilots, scared by customs and check-ins, angered by foreign coppers - and always glad to get back to good old Blighty. Here the sun might not always shine, but you can put a smile on your face with little effort -and saving bags of hard earned cash along the way. Why, some of those package tours would have qualified as an Op by paratroopers not so long ago! They should be paying YOU not you THEM to go on them! But it's what everyone has to do isn't it? D'ye know what I did yesterday- I went to B and Q and bought a new sunlounger reduced to half-price, and then with 10% off for my old boy's card. Then I went to Tesco and bought a bottle of whisky. Thus equipped I will enjoy a quiet week-end in the garden and watch the crowded Jumbos roaring overhead bound for the places the holiday companies want you to go. Keep your MADagascar, I'm enjoying it all the way at Zerostresshaus. Cheers!

What a boring life!
Personally I shall never forget my visit to Madagascar, and the fact that at times it resembled an operation for Special Forces only makes the memory sweeter and more vivid.0 -

Yes, they were/ are great. No, I can't think of any particular hurdles on my last few trips. Plus why would I holiday at home when it is far cheaper to go overseas?0 -
Overcoming all those hurdles are what makes them so special.
Quality of life is not about tangible goods and possessions. Its all about EXPERIENCES. From planning through to completion and memories to last forever0 -
What a load of tripe. True holidays come from within not without. You lot must enjoy queueing and being stuck in a tube for hours breathing recycled "air". Got your laong-haul socks?
Contentment and satisfaction cannot be bought online; they are free to those who can discover the inner self. Relax and take it easy at Zerostrasse. No wonder staycations are the fastest growing holiday segment.:)0 -

It's pretty rude to tell people their opinions are a 'load of tripe' just because they don't agree with yours.
And - have you read the sticky at the top of this board? - it says:This board is literally just for reporting (as the title says) Holiday Deals, Holiday Bargains and any Special Offers on holidays, only!
Your post is not reporting a deal.
If you want a debate about overseas holidays versus staycations, The Arms or Discussion Time is the best place for your thread.0 -

Never heard of fast track? I love flying, mainly because I am lucky enough to travel in premium cabins much of the time, and by the time I arrive at my destination I feel well and truly pampered. If that is "tripe" to you, then I guess we just have very different standards.0 -

See what you mean

I love foreign holidays, although I have never gone away in the pursuit of a tan (terrified of melanoma!). I like to see new places and experience new things (food, culture, activities) and think that any hurdles* you have to go through to achieve that are worth it.
*I behave myself and have never had any problems with immigration/customs/foreign police and I don't find the odd bit of turbulence on a plane terrifying.
If 'staycations' suit you, then that's what you should do but it won't suit everyone. I, and many others, find sitting home mind numbingly boring. I think that my perspective on life has been infinitely improved by experiences I've had on holidays and think that's well worth the money spent.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
