Shammy,
Thanks for this.
I am still puzzled.
I rang up again just now and questioned them. They would not volunteer the information, until I mentioned pluscare by name. He then told me that the scheme(if you qualify) gives you a 20% discount off their tariff - and that is exactly what the website says on the link you gave.
However their tariff is apparently very different to the one you have.
Firstly they don't have a daily standing charge like your tariff - it is a higher rate for the first 1,143/225kWh for gas/electricity
Secondly your current gas rate is already about 35% below their post 1st April 2007 gas rate and if it drops another 12% is will be close to 50% cheaper(not 20%)
Unless I have again been given 'duff' information, it might be that your rates above are for existing customers and they aren't available for new customers
Ken68 - If you ring it will be useful to see what information you get on their tariff.0 -
Cardew.
Southern have various ways of supplying the base tariff, with standing charge or higher and lower rate, they work out to roughly the same whichever you choose .
Energyplus is 20% off the base tariff but last years increases where not applied to it .
The prices are correct as of today and minus the percentage decreases I stated from 01/04/2007.
Confirmed in a 20 minute phone call this afternoon and by mine and my Mothers most recent bill .
The rates I quote are available to all qualifying customers !

Thanks everyone, I'm going to get my calculator out and ring around. Sounds like you need to be specific and persistent with the energy companies. My mother is also struggling to find the cheapesat OAP rate so I can kill two birds with one stone.if i had known then what i know now0
