Sample Employment Contract?

A friend of mine is setting up a business of which I intend to be employed by him, but we want to do this correctly to stop any complications, I just wondered if anyone has an example of a UK Employment Contract that we can work from.

I've searched online but there don't seem to be any UK ones apart from sites that are selling them for £30 upwards, I just wondered if anyone who owns a small business and employs people wouldnt mind sharing one?

Thank you!

An employment contract isn't set in stone. It can be a very lenthy document. I'd suggest you seek legal help from a solicitor as they can advise a contract that will suit you both. I think it's very important particularly as you are friends that the contract is done right at the beginning as it can save things getting messy later.
  • I am about to employ someone and will be using the one on business link - and it's free.

However, I only need a basic contract of employment - as the other poster suggests - if yours is complex it may be worth seeking advice.

    Hi,

I have one, I am CPRS qualified, A Certified Proffesional in Recruitment Services and responsible for HR functions in my partners company, so its good, however I must advise you to get it checked elsewhere as there is no recourse back to me if you or your employer isnt covered for something by it.

if you or anyone else would like a copy please email me at sarah.arrow@arrowlighthaulage.co.uk with employment contract in the subject line and I will email it back in Word format.

    Regards

    Sarah

    Hi there
Try using this site http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=817 to get some idea of what should go into the terms and conditions of employment. (Otherwise known as a contract)

ACAS is a very good source for advice on many employment issues.

Alirob - what are you looking for specifically? I have tonnes of templates (one the joys of working for an employer, rather than your partner) and you may be able to adapt one of them.
