Bank with Lloyds & mortgage with C&G and use online banking - be aware of this bug !

Options
This is my case, and hopefully this may help others.

Firstly - I bank with LloydsTSB and this may only apply to their online banking service, I also have a C&G Mortgage and these details show, ie the mortgage account shows on my Lloydstsb online banking. Just like my current account and savings account.

I'll explain what has happened to me on two occasions now, my C&G Fixed term mortgage came to an end in May, and in June it would go to a Variable rate, my rate was fixed in 2007, so the drop in my mortgage payment would be quite a lot. In my case we'll say £250.00 and the fixed rate was £1250, so the new mortgage payment would be £1,000.00.

Now all May my LloydsTSB online banking service was showing the new lower payment, and like most of us, we trust the numbers the online banking service tells you.

So I was expecting my mortgage payment to drop from £1250 to £1000, It didnt, I spoke to C&G and they said it wasnt meant to drop until the following month. So I then complained to LloydsTSB online banking service and 90mins after speaking to serveral different people, I eventually got thru to someone who knew something about this. Now this person admitted to me they had a system problem and the mortgage amount was picking up the wrong data, and that they new about this. So they refunded me the difference (£250) and gave me compensation £50. for my troubles. I asked if this was happening to other customers and she said she couldnt comment, but it was a known error.

So this month for personal reasons (redundancy) my mortgage payment was due to go to intrest only, and once again the same thing has happened.

I am so frustrated with LloydsTSB that they over the years have been a fantastic bank, now this time they have said they wont do anything and that its acceptable for a bug still to exist and create confusion with their customers, and that two months down the line it still has not been resolved. Also what about the people out there who have just accepted it and either lost out financially or had to make do.

It just doesnt seem fair

I for one will move my banking and mortgage away from both Lloyds and C&G

I wish my C&G mortgage would appear on my Lloyds online banking service. This seems to be a bit hit and miss as some people say they have it. Others dont and some have said it seems to come and go.

Are you sure it is wise to move your mortgage away from C&G now you are on the variable rate?

Not sure if the C&G appearing is based upon the type of account you have, ie a normal classic might now show this, but a premier/platinum would. (if anyone else can confirm)

With regards to C&G, its not their fault imo, but since they are owned by Lloyds, I simply wont going forward have anything to do with LLoyds Group.

Echo above, sure you would research first but interest only is also likely to be difficult to obtain...

  • I bet C&G would be very pleased to have you off the books at their fantastic 2.5% standard variable rate..... Cutting off your nose?

I will move away from C&G at some point, when I can, ie a remortgage and house move, but this thread isnt about me leaving my mortgage provider, it's warning people who bank with Lloyds and have a mortage with C&G, and use online banking that they may encounter this bug, that LloydsTSB know about.

Which could cause the account holder undue stress and concern.

Thanks for the heads up on such a good mortgage I have.... :D

The intrest only setup is for a short period, whilst my life settles down, and it's heading that way already, and then I will move my business elsewhere. e/o
