Hi,
How do I find out if there is any value in my old boiler?
I'm not sure what it's made of - it's about 30-40 years old I'd say, it's a floor standing one
I've just taken it out and its in my garden at the mo, need to get rid of it at somepoint, wondering if I should take it to the tip or if it's worth any money

It's probably worth £10 to £20 as it is, but subject to you getting it to a scrap dealers. If you remove the heat exchangers, they are normally made from copper and will be worth £20 or so on their own.
However, getting it to the scrap dealer may pose a problem for you. Let one of the gypsy scrap collectors take it. You won't get anything for it but at least it will be off your hands.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
In amplification of Phils second paragraph.
If you live anywhere in a large town just leave it at the front gate and it will be gone within the hour.

Told my son to leave his old broken washing machine on the front lawn overnight and hey presto it was gone in the morning.0

Agree with all above, not worth the issue of carting it, plus any scrappy will only give you the basic mixed scrap value as it contains plenty of plastics and other useless stuff.
Leave it for the !!!!!!, we get 5 vans round a day up here:eek:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Scrap metal not worth as much I thought these days - I took 4 big iron garden gates and some general scrap down to my local scrap merchants the other week, got a heady £9 for the lot which just about covered the petrol down there.....:D0
