Best way to purchase PC monitor

Hi,
I'm looking at buying a replacement PC monitor - cost is around £230 so not cheap.
What's the best way to purchase it in regards to protecting my self. I consider any pixel defects or bad back-light bleed, well, defects and contrary to this "industry standards" bull...
But I know pretty much all retailers won't accept a monitor return as "faulty" if it has just the one or two dead pixels so..
If I buy over the internet - and decide I don't want it because of pixel/bac-klight issues, rather than try to return the item as faulty I was thinking I'll just fork out for the return of the item my self. My question here is - would I run into any trouble returning it to the shop my self under the DSR - rather than paying for couriered delivery? The place I'd like to purchase from is within driving distance.
Place I'm looking to purchase from is Scan Computers - scan.co.uk.
Cheers

You could collect it from scan if they will let you view the monitor working

Sounds like you have something specific in mind, but if you just want a monitor, look at the site below and some decent ones do appear eventually.

Buy a Dell Ultrasharp U2412M (1920x1200) - see the Product Description lower down. The full technical information (PDF download) on the Dell website says: "Premium Panel Guarantee – 100% replacement of Dell UltraSharp series monitors sold if any bright pixel is found, valid within the [3-year] warranty period."
I'm slightly biased because I've had one for a few months, and am v. pleased with it.0 -
I would suspect that you'd probably not notice a dark pixel, whereas you might well a bright, always-on, one.0
