BF from Denmark and joint claim?

Hi all, just after a bit of advise if possible, since I can't seem to find much information about this anywhere and some of you may have encountered something similar.
I'm due to go back to work next week and have 3 children, all in school age. I haven't worked for around 9 years and so going back to work is daunting enough, switching from IS to WTC and such is nagging at my mind and so far, I can work out that I've done everything I can.
However, now my boyfriend (from Denmark) has been over for a couple of weeks and has thankfully agreed to stay over the summer to help me with the children with childcare while I am working, since I will only be doing 20 hours. How much would it effect my claim if he were to move in and a joint claim was made? He hasn't worked this tax year as he is having a year off before he plans to study so his income for this tax year will be 0, however all I can find is one place that states the only difference will be my childcare costs will be stopped (as they would have been quite extensive without him) or that I need to work 24 hours + for me to be eligable for working tax credits at all.
Any help would be much appreciated.
