Quick Tesco Returns Question

Just bought a Tesco branded Tower Fan from my local Tesco (in the past hour).

Plugged it in and it's genuinely flooding out the sound of my TV on the volume I normally have it on during the day, so that's pretty loud!

Can I return it for this reason? I'm 90% sure I can but just thought I'd double check.

EDIT: It's plugged in, but switched off and I can still hear it quite clearly ticking away.

I certainly would take it back, just tell them it's far to noisy.
  • It's a fan so if they object get them to plug it in and try it for themselves!

I think this is more than enough reason to take it back.

I'm 90% sure you can't if bought in store, unless they have a "dissatisfaction" policy or the fan was advertised as "quieter than normal TV volume".

However, it may well be faulty, so take it back. If possible get them to try it and agree it's excessively noisy. They will, most probably, exchange it.

If you get home and it's the same then, I'm afraid, that's the extent of your legal rights.

In that case, turn the TV up a bit. It works a treat in my car, where the radio solves a lot of expensive "problems".
