Hi all, just hoping that someone might have some bright ideas as I'm out of my field of expertise!
My son and his friends are home from uni, and have had no joy getting summer jobs. He has applied for everything going nearby, but no luck. I don't want him sitting around my house, skint and demoralised until September, so I've suggested he and his mates could take a tent and head off for an adventure with a small amount of cash and a bit of food. Am I being unrealistic or living in Enid Blyton influenced la-la land? He doesnt think it's do-able.
We are in the north west, they have a tent, railcards, and probably ten quid each per day tops.
I would love to hear any thoughts you might have.
Thank you

Wild camping in Scotland.
More hints and tips here. Just Google it.
More fun than you can shake a stick at.
Hitch-hike everywhere. Start with a vague plan and adapt, i.e. head for Dundee, end up in Dornoch. They will need a good map or GPS phone. Speak to the ferry operators and see if they can blag a trip to Orkney or any of the other islands in exchange for some labour. They will most likely be turned down but you never know. Make sure the deal includes a return trip though.
A Gaelic breakfast each morning (porridge with Guinness) will provide them with all the nourishment they need, though nothing beats landing and cooking a brown trout. Watch out for the bailiffs, some fishing in Scotland is free, much is not.0 -
Shell Island,Llanberis or Abersoch area . Can pitch up for a few quid per night in a field. Beans bread and beer from the local shop. Peaks and south lakes offer the same . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0
