Tax Credits and Salary Sacrifice..

Quick query.. I have just renewed my tax credits claim over the phone and the adviser asked me if I take part in a pention plan (which I do), he then asked if I do the 'salary sacrifice scheme', again this is something that I do. He then re assessed my income and low and behold my tax credits have gone up by £8 ish a week. When I asked the adviser why I hadn't been asked about the 'sss' when renewing before he stated that he didn't know and that he was surprised that I hadn't been.
What I want to know is can I claim back payments for the previous years that I haven't been asked about this??. All I've ever been asked for is the final amount shown on my P60...no-one has ever said about the 'sss' affecting the tax credits payments before.. going by the advisers comments I would have been on average £400 a year down on what I could have been entitled to.

Your P60 shows your "taxable pay" - this has all money for salary sacrifice deducted already. If you have been quoting the number from your P60 then you should have been getting the correct amount of Tax Credits.0
