Hi,
some of my tomatoes have stems turning yellow, with blotchy leaves. I am getting worried it is blight? Is it? And if so-what do I do?

These are some stems I have pulled off the plants

I have one tumbler in a hanging basket, one in a tub, then garden pearls in a bed (a couple in another one, through weed proof membrane) and then one raised bed with I think I planted too many in it! (it is a 1.2x 1.4m and I have 15 in there ( They were spaced 30cm apart when I planted them, but now very squished!)

The two commonest causes of yellow for chillis are over-watering and lack of feeding. I assume tomatoes are the same. There might, just might, be a chance over-watering has been a problem, assuming they are outdoors.

I would say it is water damage...recent weather
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Ive had magnesium deficiency with mine which I initially thought was blight , they start off with a sort of lighter green between veins and do eventually go yellow and blotchy.
They are better since watering with epsom salts.

If you are after a small amount of epsom salts: 200g for £1.25 at Boots.

What are you growing them in? From the pics and what you describe I've seen this with the "Blow aways" as it can get very humid / condensation, in them which tends to "rot" the fruit. Obviously opening up a bit and getting air flow helps. By blow aways I mean the plastic covered "greenhouses" that are sold these days.

They are outdoors. I have a lot of bush tomatoes planted in one bed I think-and they are the ones that are going funny. I think I have 5 cordon, and 10 or 11 bushes in a 1.5m x 1.2m bed-I didn't realise how BIG the bushes would get!

I noticed they were outdoors, don't know how I missed all those posts above first time round. I think its mainly down to the conditions / lack of summer we have had. I would follow advice above re: watering and epsom salts, I assume you are feeding them. Might be worth thining out some of the ones looking a bit squashed if you think that will help. Obviously try and thin the ones showing the most damage.

    and the stems

So what do I do now? They are obviously very badly affected (I have tried pulling off the dead stems when I thought it was just water damage, but it was too much to keep up with)
Should I just dig up and bin the lot?

It is a brand new raised bed. Does this mean I can't grow tomatoes in it again? It also has sweetcorn and squash on the other side-those won't be affected by blight will they?
