We only did a whistlestop afternoon visit, but the feeling you get when you step out of Penn station onto 5th avenue can't be described. It's an incredieble place.

I agree completely i only spent 24 hours in new york and loved it. If usa residents watched the uk life of grime they would be thinking the same as you but they stioll come in their droves. Visit new york you will not regret it.

NYC is a great place to visit ... and if you buy an expensive camera lens you can sell it on ebay when you get back and have a free holiday on the profits, though I'm too honest to do that, unfortunately :-(

I actually though NYC was pretty clean ... dunno what that says about me!?

Hey, we don't have rats and rubbish in UK? I work and live in London . I found NYC to be just fine and thoroughly enjoyed my visit a few years back.

Didn't really think anything of it - wouldn't say it was worse than the UK but from what I can remember it was probably a little cleaner! (I only probably thought that as I think the UK has a really bad problem with litter etc). Just go and enjoy NY.
