Microwave making buzzing sound when door is closed just after cleaning...

Just curious what this could be stemming from. Finished cleaning it 20 mins ago with:

-Scouring pad
-Hydrogen preoxide spray
-Vinegar spray
-Washing up liquid

Basically i sprayed the inside cavity entirely with the two sprays (both sprays together disinfect surfaces for those going !!!!!!) and scoured the inside with washing up liquid. i removed what seemed a small silver piece of card slotted in to cover an enclosure cleaning it by hand with washing up liquid, in the process creating a crease in the middle. Wouldn't have done it although the microwave really stunk, due to the stagnant water inside it and never having cleaned it since i bought it half a year ago

Would any of the above have been fatal to the microwave? The microwave has a grill inside it as well.

The cover is made of a mineral called mica which is quite fragile, it is to stop dirt and grease getting into the waveguide hole that the microwaves come out of, it allows microwaves to pass through. You should replace it if badly damaged, as food and grease can get inside the waveguide and burn. One place to buy from is Charles Hyde and Son :

The noise is probably from liquid that has run down between the metal panels. Try putting the grill (without the microwave) on for 10 minutes to heat the inside up and dry off the liquid.

Thanks, that was very informative. Would it be dangerous to try and use the microwave while this crackling is still there?

It depends exactly what is causing the noise and assuming it is liquid whether it is just boiling off or causing electrical arcing. If it is used whilst making the noise is most likely to just damage the microwave, but there is a small possibility of internal components burning. So should unplug overnight and when going out. Try putting it in the sun to dry out.

If the wave guide cover is only slightly creased that shouldn't be a problem.

As above it is a cover that blocks food etc from going up the waveguide.

Provided it can still be securely positioned in place without the risk of it falling off and it still completely blocks the waveguide it should be ok.

If it flexes easily and is inclined to drop out of the securing lugs, then replace it asap.
