credit check confusion - renting

Hi,
Ive been looking into credit checks for renting as I have average-poor credit but no CCJs, BR etc

I see in many places this information -

"A credit Report comes in two main types - public credit report or private credit report.
Your public credit report usually consists of electoral roll information, insolvency records, judgments and any notices of correction.
Your private credit report consists of your public credit report plus credit history information obtained from lenders who are members of data sharing clubs. Only 200 or so lenders see your private credit report. Most employers, landlords and others see your much less detailed public report."

So, therefore a letting agency can only see the public information, but what about if they use a Tenant Referencing Service such as TenantVerify who claim (amongst other things) -

"Credit Check Acceptability Score provided by major credit reference agencies
Credit history search over a six-year period."

This sounds more like the private type or credit report. Is it the case that some Tenant Referencing Services offer a cheaper product which just offers the "public credit report" and a higher priced premium service offering this "private credit report" ?
Or am I reading too much into their descriptions of service and it wont provide a "private credit report" at all ?

Their "Credit Check Acceptability Score" is based on your public credit-report as organisations like TenantVerify don't have access to the private one. But's that's not all they look at to arrive at a recommendation.
