International SIM card

Hi

I am going on holiday for a 3 month round the world trip. I will be visiting Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the US.
I wish to bring a mobile with me so that I can be contact by people back home (England) and also that I can call them.

Is there a best international SIM to get as I would have thought that using my current O2 pay monthly contract SIM would be expensive.

I have seen ones that have SIM number from Estonia and others that have a UK number. Obviously the UK number would be best, as it would mean people calling me are not charged so much.

I also understand that there are international SIM's that allow you to receive calls free depending on what countries you are in, we will be spending most time in Australia and New Zealand.

Has anyone had experience using one of these SIM's and did it work?

Many thanks
