The street we live in is broken and requires resurfacing. Sent about 5 emails to council and the highway repair company come in and just repaired few potholes. The street next to us is completely resurfaced last year.
Council says every year they prioritize 20 worst roads and resurface only those. Ours is'nt in the list to they cannot resurface but happy to repair areas of concerns. Most people leaving in my street feels the road needs resurfacing.
We pay the same amount of council tax as people leaving in a well constructed streets. Then why such a difference?? Should we STOP paying COUNCIL TAX?

FYI - it's live and living not leave and leaving.
If they keep patching up the pot-holes what is the problem? What is actually wrong with it? How bad is it?
If the council only resurface the 20 worst and you are not on that list then I guess you will just have to be patient until you are on it or keep complaining. Have you written a letter rather than fired off an email?
You'll regret not paying council tax, especially over something so minor. You get a lot of different services for it, not just keeping your local street in good condition.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Of course that will completely solve your problem with your road!0

Sell up and move if it bothers you that much.0 -
Have you considered LIVING the area and LEAVING somewhere else?0

Dont stop paying your CT this will get you into more trouble and expence than an unsightly street would warrant, as long as they keepfilling in the pot holes,Idontthink there is anything you can do .Slimming World at target0

Ensure you and your neighbours keep reporting each defect, eventually they may fix your road to get rid of you all.
Has the damaged road caused any damage to people or vehicles? If it has make sure people inform the council of that as well.
In the current economic times the council will only do what is essential not just what you think is needed.0 -
Remember with council tax, you are paying a tax, not buying a service. The tax is charged and collected, they then decide what to do with it. if you stop paying your council tax they will take you to court and then you'll be in more trouble than you are with a few holes in the street.
Keep reporting it and filling in the forms on line - try https://www.fixmystreet.com as well."There is no substitute for time."

Helpful post.
OP, not paying your council tax is not an option, but if everyone on your street was to collectively pressure your local councillors you might see some action.I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0 -

Well I suppose when bailiffs take the cars from half the people living in the street and the council get committal warrants for wilful refusal to pay against the other half, then you won't be worried about the potholes any more. Bit of a left-field solution but yeah, it might work.
A better solution would be for you all to approach your local councillor and ask for their help. You voted for them, they are supposed to be your advocate on the council, so put them to work.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0
