As previously stated I am new to the whole ebay thing and am still finding my feet.
Anyway, I just wondered at which point do sellers usually leave feedback for the buyers.
The only reason I am asking is that any auction that I have won, I have paid for within half an hour of winning the item.
A couple of sellers haven't left feedback for me until I have received their item and left their feedback.
I just wondered what the ebay etiqquette was in terms of, which point is feedback left for a buyer.

I say what I like, I like what I say!

This is a debate that runs and runs, there is no real answer except to leave feedback when you are comfortable with leaving feedback.

I normally leave mine straight away but have had some buyers that give it as soon as they get paid and others wait for me first2p off is still 2p off!0

Ah that old chesnut..lol
As a seller I used to leave feedback on receipt of cleared funds. But I now lask the buyer to leave feedback when they are entirely happy with their transaction and to signify completion. I did this to stop those that do not contact and leave knee jerk negative feedback. I fall over backwards to ensure my buyers are 100% happy but you get the odd one. Or the mail lets you down and the first you know about it is that big negative winking at you in your feedback.
I enclose a thankyou slip explaining all this and asking buyers to contact me first if they have a problem...some never do.
As a buyer do not leave too quickly, ensure that you have checked the item properly (esp electrical goods) nothing worse than your purchase arriving and you immediately run off and leave glowing feedback only to find the item is a lemon!!0 -
As a buyer I leave it when I receive my items.
As a seller I leave after the buyer leaves it for me. Used to leave it after the buyer paid, but I got annoyed by a few people who couldn't be bothered leaving it for me in return! So I wait for them to leave it now. If they don't leave any, they don't get any back.
I have dealt with quite a few sellers and I tend to find that leaving feedback last is the norm. In my experience, very few leave it when you pay.
Also like Hintza says you sometimes get buyers who neg you for silly reasons, e.g. the black t-shirt they bought wasn't black enough. So it reduces the possibility of you getting silly feedback.0 -
Agreed. Am selling at the moment and haven't left any feedback for buyers as I want to hear from feedback that they're satisfied. Not many have the courtesy to e-mail and advise all ok, and I don't want to have someone leave me a neg after I've already left positive for them. On the other hand, only 3 out of 10 have left feedback on receipt of items this week, so have e-mailed others to enquire about items safe receipt (I always use recorded to cover my back!), but not a dickiebird. Whether they're waiting for me to do it first is a possibility but as I bend over backwards to be a positive seller, and in the past have got a bit fed up of having left feedback never to receive any in return! Like SooLin has mentioned, usually 90% leave feedback but quite a few this week are ebay newbies I've sold to, so maybe they're unsure what the etiquette is? Annoying though - my ideal is buyer leaves feedback immediately upon receipt and examination of goods if all ok, and I reciprocate. (obviously e-mailing if there's a problem!!)
Guess it's a 50/50 personal preference on this one Amie0 -
Volume sellers tend to use automated feedback (Merlin) which normally is set to leave feedback after the buyer has left feedback, for the reasons stated above.0
