What I really need to know is, if it's possible to copy from the hard drive to a Rewriteable DVD before transfering the dvd to a PC for editing . Alan.

Hi Alan
Yes I have a Liteon 5025 and very pleased I am with it too. I have had it almost a year and have copied from hard drive to DVD+R many times but I had not tried a DVD+RW until now.
The User's Manual says it DVD+RWs are compatible with the machine but I have just tried with a brand new Sony DVD+RW and it just doesn't recognise the DVD so won't write to it.
I have copied a TV recording to a DVD+R but my PC would not recognise it until I finalised the DVD. Then I was able to copy the contents of the DVD to my PC. This resulted in a selection of .VOB, .IFO and .BUP files. The next question is how are you intending to edit these files? I don't think I can. Or were you thinking of copying still pictures or music?
Hope this helps a bit with your question.

Marty, you are a godsend , no one could confirm that a dvd would have to be finalised before being recognised by a pc , this would entail having to use two dvd's for every piece of film copied to PC, one as an archive of the original and the other as an edited and finalised disk, Thanks for your input it has helped a great deal in my decision on this recorder,
