Best way to post item value £100?

Must confess I haven't used the post office in a long while and I'm not sure of my options.
I need to return a faulty GPS watch to Southampton, it's worth around £100. The post office website for regular parcels says compensation is £46 max, so is special delivery my best option? It just seems a bit ott as I'm in no hurry.

If you want it insured to the full value, then yes special delivery is the way to go. If it is say a 200G packet then it will cost you £6.35. There are Parcelforce insured products available, but they are twice as expensive.0

Royal Mail Special Delivery (Next Day)
up to 500g weight costs £6.35 and insured up to £500A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -

Personally I think OP is being sensible sorting it out in advance rather than leave it to the whim of a counter clerk. There really is no option other than special if using RM and needing to keep the costs down a bit..I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
