Thanks for all your replies.
I'm glad you all think it's a good idea and not OTT.
I decided on the engagement ring doubling as the wedding ring because he doesn't like to wear jewellery but did agree to wear a wedding ring and I don't want to bog him down with too many rings.
Also, he is of the opinion that once you are married, you don't wear your engagement ring anymore (pass) and there is no poitn buying an engagement ring which he won't wear after a certain date.0 -
Ok guys, quick update.
I think I am going to do it tomorrow. Am picking the ring up from the jewellers in the morning.
Kind of stressing and not doing the over the top thing as thats not who we are, but still hoping it will be special enough.0 -

Yes, I did it.
We have a wooden garden swing in the back garden so I thought that would be nice as we designed the garden ourselves not long ago and it was a beautiful weekend.
So I sat on the swing very patiently as if nothing was happening and then started talking about what had happened and the feelings involved and how things felt now. Then (as I am really bad saying these things and he loves chocolate) I presented him with a box of chocolates which had 'will you marry me?' written on them and I opened the ring box infront of him.
He said yes (of course) though men are terrible with emotions so there was no jumping up and down.
I then explained that though some things take a long time to heal, that when you love someone as much as I love him that you can see past them and he is the only one I want to be with. (Bleh!! hehe).
So, not over the top romance but I think it was nice and did what it was meant to, if you know what I mean.
Back to planning now :T0 -
